Bartlett was appointed to identify and implement energy-saving improvements for the air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems within a busy 999 Call Hub environment, where maintaining reliable climate control and indoor air quality is critical to day-to-day operations.

Following a comprehensive HVAC and ventilation survey carried out by our engineering team, it was identified that excessively high levels of fresh air ventilation were operating continuously, even during periods of reduced occupancy. This resulted in unnecessary energy consumption, increased operating costs and higher maintenance requirements.

To address these issues, Bartlett designed and installed an intelligent CO₂ monitoring and demand-controlled ventilation system within the Call Hub. The system automatically regulates the volume of fresh air supply and extraction based on real-time occupancy and indoor air quality levels, ensuring the ventilation system operates only when required while maintaining a comfortable and compliant working environment.

The upgraded commercial ventilation control system delivered significant energy savings for the Trust by reducing the overall load on the heating, cooling and air conditioning systems. In addition to lowering energy consumption and operational costs, the Trust also benefited from reduced maintenance requirements, including fewer replacement filter changes and less frequent cleaning visits due to the optimised airflow management.

The completed project provided a highly efficient, smart building ventilation solution that improved environmental performance, reduced long-term running costs and enhanced the overall efficiency of the 999 Call Hub facility.
