Local Food Links was established in 1999 by the West Dorset Food and Land Trust, a registered charity and local community organisation, to run Farmer’s Markets and other food initiatives. Also set up was a hot meals service for schools and nurseries operating from the kitchen at our newly established Centre for Local Food. This was a major evolution in school meal catering, which today is dominated by industrial scale contract caterers that supply schools across the UK.
Having heard of Bartlett through word of mouth, Local food links initially approached Bartlett to help with a few issues they were having with their existing Bridport site, having assisted with these challenges Bartlett were the obvious choice when, with business growing it was necessary to set up a second production kitchen in Weymouth.
From a completely empty industrial building Bartlett advised on every aspect of the catering layout for the building as well as equipment selection and positioning.
As one of the largest catering equipment suppliers based in the south of the UK Bartlett have access to all of the major manufacturers equipment as such Bartlett are able to offer advice on the best equipment for every application, to that end on this project equipment was selected for durability as well as energy efficiency.
Bartlett are in the unique position of having in house qualified designers for all aspect of kitchen layout, ventilation (including duct work) systems, as well as refrigeration systems, a service which was well used on this project when other associated trade contractors were unable to assist
All equipment supplied by Bartlett was installed by Bartlett directly employed staff, something that is quite unusual these days, Bartlett trades involved were, Gas safe engineers, WRAS approved plumbers, Electricians, F gas certified refrigeration engineer, duct work engineer and duct insulation fitter.
